THE SAFE CHOICE

Built to keep your kids safe

Every point below is a place where a cheaper set saves money and a Rainbow set does not. You are not buying a two-year toy. You are buying a fifteen-year structure.

The timber carries the load, not the bolts

Structural pieces are 4x4 and 4x6 cedar timbers, notched wood into wood, so force runs through the beam instead of hanging off the hardware. There is no weight limit on the structure — an adult can climb up there with their kids.

No sharp corners

Every nut and bolt sits in a routered recess, so nothing protrudes. Half-inch thru-bolts, dual bolted, double nutted, capped with a smooth acorn nut. No pinch points and no puncture points.

Chains that do not pinch

Heavy-gauge chain dipped in plastisol, so little fingers cannot catch in the links. Ductile iron swing hangers bolted through the whole beam rather than screwed to the face of it, and one-inch rope instead of the half-inch you get on a kit set.

Intentional inclines

The ladder is angled rather than vertical, which is far easier for a small child to climb back down. Rungs are powder coated for grip, and the safety rails are spaced so the rail cannot be used as a ladder to get higher than they should.

Twice the weight, so it stays put

A Rainbow set weighs roughly double a comparable big-box set. It does not walk, shift or tip when three kids swing high at the same time. Mass is a safety feature.

Safety surfacing

A safe structure over the wrong surface is not a safe playground. Our rubber mulch is playground certified, run through a metal detector to pull out tire shards, and coated with a 12-year color guarantee — not the landscaping mulch sold by the bag.

And the install is part of the safety

The most common reason a playset is unsafe is not the playset. It is how it was put together and what it was put on. Our own crew builds it in about six hours, against twenty-plus hours of a weekend with an allen wrench, and we back our assembly with a labor warranty of 90 days minimum, on top of Rainbow’s warranty on the wood, slide and swing hangers.

Questions people ask us first

Who installs it, and how is that priced?+

Our own crew, not a subcontractor. They level the playset to the site, build the set and take the packaging with them. Sloped yards need a special assessment, which is part of why we quote your address rather than guess — you get a real number before you commit, instead of one that moves after the deposit.

How much room does it need?+

The 17C is 28 feet long, 12.5 feet wide and 13 feet tall, and it needs clear space around the slide and swings. Send us your zip and a photo of the yard and we will tell you whether it fits or point you to a set that does.

What does the warranty actually cover?+

Rainbow’s warranty covers the wood, the slide and the swing hangers for the lifetime of the original purchaser. Reseal the wood every 12 to 18 months to keep it valid — we do that service too, for a separate fee, so you do not have to. Our assembly is covered by our labor warranty for 90 days minimum, and that varies with the installation package you buy with the playset.

Can we add to it later?+

Yes. Monkey bars, a penthouse and a spiral slide all bolt onto the set you already own, so a four-year-old’s set can still work at nine.

Can we see one before we buy?+

Bring the kids to one of our four showrooms — Augusta GA, North Augusta SC, Columbia SC or Greenville SC — and let them climb. Watching which set they keep going back to settles the decision faster than a catalog will.
